Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp has rejected any concerns over the possibility of being two goalkeepers down when they face Mamelodi Sundowns next week.
Chiefs are already without first choice and club captain Itumeleng Khune, who suffered a groin injury just 120 minutes into his come-back following a nine-month lay-off since December last year.

They now also face the risk of losing experienced Nigerian international Daniel Akpeyi, who is one yellow card away from a one-match ban, just a week before they visit league champions Sundowns in the league.
Akpeyi is expected to start when Amakhosi face Cape Town City this afternoon, with Bruce Bvuma as his back-up should anything happen during the 90 minutes.
But, should he pick up a yellow card, the 32-year-old will be ruled out against The Brazilians, leading to Bvuma having to step up into the starting line-up while 16-year-old Bontle Molefe could get his first look at first team action from the bench.

Asked about the situation, the German refused to consider the possible implications should anything happen to Akpeyi, as he highlighted the pedigree of his 24-year-old third-choice shotstopper before also revealing his thoughts on young Molefe.
“No, not really. I think we have built up Bruce as a potential goalkeeper – good. There’s Bontle Molefe, who is young and definitely not one who should be brought in,” said Middendorp.

“But, in the end, we have a national team goalkeeper into it. If it happens [that Akpeyi gets suspended], it happens, there’s nothing we can do. But I will not highlight it too much.”
